A 14 h 10, la salle de contrôle a été informée d’une urgence médicale concernant un salarié présent en zone non contrôlée. La victime a été transporté au centre médical régional de "New Hanover" ou aucune matière radioactive ou contamination n’aurait été détectée. À 16 h 02, les responsables de l’hôpital ont prévenu le personnel de l’usine que le patient était décédé.

OFFSITE NOTIFICATION DUE TO CONTRACT EMPLOYEE FATALITY
"At approximately 14:10 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), the Control Room was notified of a contract employee experiencing a non-work related medical emergency within the protected area in the service building. First responders were immediately dispatched. Off-site assistance was requested. The individual was transported to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center. No radioactive material or contamination was involved. At 16:02 EDT, hospital officials notified plant personnel that the patient was declared deceased.
"This notification is being made in accordance with 10 CFR 50.72(b)(2)(xi) for a situation related to the health of on-site personnel for which a notification to other government agencies is planned. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be notified.
"The NRC Resident Inspector has been notified."
