Australia to export uranium to India



Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has agreed with his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, to start exporting uranium to the South Asian country.

The two leaders met in the Indian capital, New Delhi, on Monday.

India has not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Although Australia had restricted exports to countries outside the treaty, the two countries sealed a civil nuclear deal in 2014 that made it possible to sell uranium to India for peaceful purposes.
